Controlling
Shades of darkness
Lives are crushed under the tread of Fate

Foredoomed
And yet foresaved
Powers unimaginable, stoking the fires
Turning the wheels
Two figures creep forward, pale white in the gloom
They stumble, eyes deciphering words in the dark

Words that delight children such as these
Distant forms of giant wheels, mirrors, towers
Eyes grow wide at the shapes, so dark and cold, like dead insects

Just for them, happiness of their own
Approaching the gate, they notice another
Permanent smiles, eyes bright, telling of the fun at the-

She wears a purple silk coat and top hat,
